Through the Eyes of the Food Service Operator

A survey of Alameda County food businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic

Clean Water Fund and StopWaste asked restaurants how the pandemic has impacted their sustainability goals. Over the course of 2 months, between September 1, 2020 and October 29, 2020, the ReThink Disposable team contacted 142 restaurants that had previously adopted reusables through the ReThink Disposable source reduction process to understand if and how their commitment to the use of reusables had been impacted by the pandemic. Of the respondents (49), 79% had reverted to disposables for onsite dining. But good news! 61% want help getting back to reusable foodware and 35% are interested in adopting reusable take-out ware!

yes Action alert: Let your restaurants know you want reusables when indoor/outdoor dining resumes and support businesses that are currently using reusable takeout ware.
